The political and cultural category of amefricanity as an afro-diasporic tension of the brazilian national identity

Resumo: The present paper seeks to straining the formation of Brazilian national identity, in view of its deep colonial foundation, based on the ideology of whitening and racial democracy. For this, we use the category of amefricanity, developed by Lélia Gonzalez, to tension the hegemonic narrative of the cultural constitution of the Brazilian people and consequently its national identity, inserting the importance of the black diaspora in the dynamics of cultural formations inside and outside the borders of the Brazilian state. Thus, the work in question explores how an attempt was made to institute a Brazilian national identity based on homogenizing processes of cultural assimilation, which in turn suppressed black and indigenous identities. With this, we rescue aspects of the Brazilian cultural formation based on the African influence and, finally, we approach the need to cross the borders of the nation-state. In this sense, we face the political-cultural category of amefricanity as a rescue of a Latin America, which is not based on European influence, but first and foremost on black and indigenous foundations.

Para ello, utilizamos la categoría de amefricanidade, desarrollada por Lélia Gonzalez, para tensionar la narrativa hegemónica de la constitución cultural del pueblo brasileño y consecuentemente su identidad nacional, insertando la importancia de la diáspora negra en la dinámica de las formaciones culturales dentro y fuera de las fronteras del Estado brasileño. Así, la obra en cuestión explora cómo se intentó establecer una identidad nacional brasileña basada en procesos homogeneizadores de asimilación cultural, que a su vez suprimieron las identidades negra e indígena. Con esto, rescatamos aspectos de la formación cultural brasileña de la influencia africana y finalmente abordamos la necesidad de cruzar las fronteras del estado-nación. En este sentido, nos enfrentamos a la categoría político-cultural de la anfictionía como rescate de una América Latina, que no se basa en la influencia europea, sino en primer lugar, en los fundamentos negros e indígenas.O presente trabalho busca tensionar a formação da identidade nacional brasileira, tendo em vista seu profundo alicerce colonial, calcado na ideologia de branqueamento e na democracia racial. Para isso, acionamos a categoria amefricanidade, desenvolvida por Lélia Gonzalez, como tensionamento à narrativa hegemônica da constituição cultural do povo brasileiro e consequentemente sua identidade nacional,  inserindo a importância da diáspora negra nas dinâmicas de formações culturais dentro e fora das fronteiras do Estado brasileiro. Assim, o trabalho em tela explora a tentativa de estabelecimento de uma identidade nacional brasileira a partir de processos homogeneizantes de assimilação cultural, que  suprimiram identidades negras e indígenas. Com isso, resgatamos aspectos da formação cultural brasileira a partir de uma influência amefricana, transpassando, com isso, as fronteiras do estado-nação.
