Resumo: | In this article we propose to discuss the polysemy of democracy, since the expression has been used indiscriminately to justify arguments and actions that, at first, would not be of the democratic core. Taking the "Essay on Lucidity" by José Saramago (2005) as a motto, we raise the question of the apparent paradox of democracy: blasted as the symbol of popular sovereignty, this sovereignty is far from being effective, using the political regime as a government for the few. From the presentation of the literary work, it is possible first to present the argument of the paradox in order to illuminate the reflection so, in the second point, showing that this paradox is in fact only apparent, because what is at stake is not democracy as it is, but the hatred of it, as presented by Jacques Rancière (2014). |
