Four notes for an always inconclusive conjunctural analysis on the spur of the moment: dialogues with David Gomes

The article seeks a fraternal and aggrandizing dialogue with the friend and intellectual David Gomes, based on his text “Brasil, 2020: tentativa de diagnóstico” (“Brazil, 2020: diagnostic attempt”). Its final result and publication means, for us, the satisfaction of perceiving the survival of corners of critical dialogues in the pseudo-productivist desert of the Brazilian academy. In summary, in this article we approach general understandings about the structural and conjunctural analysis carried out by the author, focusing on some of its aspects, which are: i. complementary analysis and dialogue about the diagnosis of David Gomes regarding the emptying of a communal theology for a further prevalence of sacramental theology in Brazil, seeking to understand the meanings of recent religious experiences in the country; ii. Critical readings regarding his perception of the erection of a Welfare State during the years of administration of the federal executive led by the Partido dos Trabalhadores (Workers' Party) and the unfolding of this difference in analysis to think about the meaning of the current public security crisis; iii. Theoretical and political debates regarding the characterization of popular social movements in Brazil and their social roles in contemporary times.
