In the name of the party, militancy and social transformation: the catholic participation in the Workers' Party of the city of Ponta Grossa - PR (1980-1992)

Resumo: This paper aims to analyze, in the light of the renewed political historiography, the articulations and political strategies adopted by lay and religious actors, participants of the initial trajectory of the ponta-grossense Workers' Party, in the search for local power. As indicators of these strategies, two specific situations will be brought up. The first, the formation of the local PT, when part of the Catholic militancy linked to the University Pastoral (PU) and to the Youth Pastoral (PJ) is actively inserted in the foundation and development of the party, even if on the margins of the position of the episcopate. The second, representing the apex of this strategy, candidacy of priest Roque Zimmermann M.S.F. for prefect of Ponta Grossa in 1992, demonstrating the attempt of the local PT to expand its electoral bases beyond the already known redoubts. The dialogues between politics and religion present in this article will be established from the writings of Rémond, Coutrot, Berstein, and Rosanvallon.

Como indicadores de estas estrategias, se plantearán dos situaciones concretas. El primero es la formación del PT local, cuando parte de la militancia católica vinculada a la Pastoral Universitaria (PU) y a la Pastoral Juvenil (PJ) se implicó activamente en la fundación y desarrollo del partido, aunque al margen de la posición del episcopado. El segundo, que representa el ápice de esta estrategia, la candidatura del padre Roque Zimmermann M.S.F. a la alcaldía de Ponta Grossa en 1992, demostrando el intento del PT local de ampliar sus bases electorales más allá de los bastiones ya conocidos. Los diálogos entre política y religión presentes en este artículo se establecerán a partir de los escritos de Rémond, Coutrot, Berstein y Rosanvallon.O presente trabalho tem como objetivo analisar, à luz da historiografia política renovada, as articulações e estratégias políticas adotadas pelos atores leigos e religiosos, partícipes da trajetória inicial do Partido dos Trabalhadores ponta-grossense, na busca pelo poder local. Como indicadores dessas estratégias, serão trazidas à baila duas situações específicas. A primeira, a formação do PT local, quando parte da militância católica ligada à Pastoral Universitária (PU) e à Pastoral da Juventude (PJ) é inserida ativamente na fundação e desenvolvimento do partido, mesmo que às margens da posição do episcopado. A segunda, representando o ápice dessa estratégia, a candidatura de padre Roque Zimmermann M.S.F. para a prefeitura de Ponta Grossa em 1992, demonstrando a tentativa do PT local em ampliar suas bases eleitorais para além dos redutos já conhecidos.
