Resumo: This text examines the role of mothers as rural women lesseducated as support for their daughters to have access and permanence inhigher education. The analysis is made from narratives produced in situationsof semi-structured interviews with 17 young people who had access todifferent graduation courses on both campus of the University of the Stateof Bahia (Uneb). Are the data of those interviews that allow to understandhow the mothers act for having, through education, opportunities differentfrom those they had/have to experience in rural contexts. The review ofthe literature used in the research of comparative way permits to analyzethe conditions faced by rural women of the generation of mothers anddaughters and point the investment in education as a promising future forthe women of today generation.

São os dados dessas entrevistasque permitem compreender como as mães atuam para que tenham, por viada escolarização, oportunidades diferentes daquelas que elas tiveram/têm devivenciar nos contextos rurais.
