RESISTING THE MONOCULTURE OF MIND: AN ODE TO INDIGENOUS KNOWLEDGE

Resumo: Dialoguing with authors from different fields of knowledge, we argue for the necessity of an ode toindigenous knowledge. The establishment of a monoculture of mind with a universalistic ideologicaltendency has been exterminating the possibility of humanity to benefit from the interchange and sharingof knowledge and experiences acquired by different peoples of the Planet. The hegemony of the marketlogic overlaps immeasurable values such as cooperation, solidarity, collective gratitude, and kinship witheverything in the world. Such values are present in the ancient wisdom that establishes the matrix of afirst science. They also preserve codes of knowledge and ways of living that may become a reference to solve problems faced by modern societies. Faced by this scenario, the dialogue with those traditionalcosmologies would be an ethical attitude to be taken by an open science. A necessary cognitivedemocracy, the base for a political democracy and social justice, can be achieved by an ecology of ideas.

La instauración de un monocultivo de la mente con un sesgoideológico universalista ha venido obstaculizando la posibilidad de que la humanidad se beneficie con elintercambio y el compartir de saberes de las experiencias acumuladas por diferentes pueblos del Planeta.La hegemonía de la lógica del mercado se sobrepone a valores trascendentales como cooperación,solidaridad, gratitud colectiva y sentimiento de parentesco con todas las cosas del mundo. Tales valoresestán presentes en las sabidurías milenarias que constituyen la matriz de una ciencia primaria. Tambiénmantienen códigos de conocimientos y modos de vivir que podrían convertirse en una referencia pararesolver los problemas enfrentados por las sociedades modernas. En ese escenario, una actitud ética a serasumida por una ciencia abierta es el diálogo con esas cosmologías de la tradición. Una necesariademocracia cognitiva, base para la democracia política y la justicia social, podría ser alcanzada a partir deuna ecología de ideas.Em diálogo com autores de diferentes áreas de conhecimento, argumentamos a necessidade de uma odeaos saberes indígenas. A instauração de uma monocultura da mente, com viés ideológico universalista,vem exterminando a possibilidade de a humanidade se beneficiar com a troca e o compartilhamento desaberes e experiências acumuladas por diferentes povos do Planeta. A hegemonia da lógica de mercadosobrepõe-se a valores imensuráveis, como cooperação, solidariedade, gratidão coletiva e sentimento deparentesco com todas as coisas do mundo. Tais valores estão presentes nas sabedorias milenares queconstituem a matriz de uma “ciência primeira”. Também mantêm códigos de conhecimentos e modosde viver que podem vir a se tornar uma referência para resolver problemas enfrentados pelas sociedadesmodernas. Diante desse cenário, uma atitude ética a ser assumida por uma ciência aberta é a do diálogocom essas cosmologias da tradição.
