This study aims to understand what the new models of organizing the work of startups imply in terms of sexual diversity and respect for differences, in the view of gay men inserted in these companies. The theoretical framework focused on three main issues: aspects of being gay, gay in organizations, and, organic organizations and startups. The research adopted a qualitative approach, with male homosexual participants assumed to be gay and working in a startup in Belo Horizonte. For the environment of this research, a startup from Belo Horizonte was chosen, represented in the speech of its CEO and its Human Resources Manager. The data collection technique adopted during the investigation was the semi-structured interview. The analysis of the collected data was made using the Bardin content analysis technique. The results show that, yes, there is a more conducive environment for homosexual professionals being built within startups. That this environment favors the experience of sexuality of these people - which implies benefits for them and for the companies themselves - and that it brings news that can inspire more traditional organizations. The legacy of the research still lies in the fact that it shows that, even in this place of tolerance to diversity and incentive to respect for differences, episodes of prejudice and discrimination still occur. In other words, it is clear that startups and their new ways of organizing do imply new times in terms of respect for diversity. But this in no way means that organizations - even organic ones - can accommodate themselves to this goal.CNPq - Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e TecnológicoporUniversidade Federal de Minas GeraisPrograma de Pós-Graduação em AdministraçãoUFMGBrasilFACE - FACULDADE DE CIENCIAS ECONOMICAShttp://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-nc-nd/3.0/pt/info:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessMercado de trabalhoDiversidade no local de trabalhoBrasilHomossexuaisHomossexualidadeOrganizações OrgânicasStartupsDiversidade sexual.
