Vários parâmetros são considerados neste processo e o coletor é um dos mais importantes. Devido a sua importância, este trabalho visou entender melhor o mecanismo de adsorção dos coletores Lupromin 721A e Liacid1218 em partículas de minerais, obtidos por flotação de um minério fosfático, no caso, rocha fresca proveniente de uma mina em Minas Gerais. Na etapa de caracterização, foram feitas análises químicas semiquantitativa e quantitativa por FRX e análise mineralógica por DRX, cujos resultados foram consistentes com as referências existentes para o tipo de minério em questão. Dois minerais do grupo da apatita foram identificados: carbonato-hidroxiapatita e fluorapatita. Os principais minerais de ganga são os carbonatos calcita e dolomita. A espectrometria de infravermelho (EIV-FTIR), principal técnica deste estudo, utilizou-se do método de transmissão e do brometo de potássio (KBr) como meio de suporte, para análise das amostras. Foi dispendido bastante tempo na preparação de amostras e de coletores, além de ajustes de equipamento, para chegar às condições ideais de análise para detectar as raias dos adsorvatos. Entre estas, somente as raias de estiramento das cadeias de hidrocarboneto dos coletores adsorvidos, entre 2700cm-1 e 3000cm-1 foram registradas; estas bandas são características e comprovam a adsorção, mas não são diagnósticas do mecanismo envolvido.The flotation of phosphate ore, the main basic component in the production of fertilizers, has always required a more challenging approach, due to the process difficulties to obtain the product, which is apatite. Several parameters are considered in this process and the collector is one of the most important. Due to its importance, this work aimed to better understand the adsorption mechanism of the Lupromin721A and Liacid1218 collectors in particles of phosphate ore minerals obtained by flotation, in this case, a fresh rock from a mine located in the State of Minas Gerais, Brazil. In the characterization stage, semiquantitative and quantitative chemical analyzes were performed by XRF and mineralogical analysis by XRD, whose results were consistent with the existing references for the type of ore in question. Two minerals of the apatite group have been identified: carbonate-hydroxylapatite and fluorapatite. The main gangue minerals are calcite and dolomite carbonates. Infrared spectrometry (IRS-FTIR), the main technique of this study, used the transmission method and potassium bromide (KBr) as support medium, to analyze the samples. A long time was spent in preparing samples and collectors, as well as adjusting the equipment, to arrive at the ideal conditions for analysis to detect the adsorbates’ bands.
