O pensamento hierócratico de Egídio Romano: contexto histórico e contribuições para a modernidade

Resumo: O trabalho pretende avaliar a obra Sobre o poder eclesiástico, de Egídio Romano, a partir do seu contexto histórico. Para tal, reconstrói alguns elementos essenciais das disputas entre poderes seculares e a Igreja na baixa Idade Média e sua relação com a formação do pensamento hierocrático medieval, e, de modo especial, com o pensamento político de Egídio Romano. A análise possibilitou a identificação de elementos inovadores em relação à tradição do pensamento político medieval que se aproximam das teorias absolutistas desenvolvidas pelo pensamento político moderno, em que pese o uso de pressupostos distintos.

By doing so, it reviews some concepts developed during the dispute between secular power and the Church in the late Middle Ages, and its connection with the political theory of Gilles of Rome.
