O objetivo do estudo foi avaliar o perfil do uso desses medicamentos entre pacientes com osteoporose pós-menopausa atendidas pelo Programa Mais Vida do município de Belo Horizonte e fatores associados. MÉTODOS: Estudo transversal realizado a partir dos registros médicos das pacientes idosas (60 anos ou mais, do sexo feminino), com osteoporose pós-menopausa, que utilizavam pelo menos um medicamento de uso contínuo, atendidas entre 09/2011 e 12/2013 (n=478). FRIDs foram identificados e caracterizados como variável dependente (uso de qualquer FRID, uso de qualquer FRID do grupo terapêutico cardiovascular, ou uso de qualquer FRID do grupo terapêutico sistema nervoso). Foi avaliada a associação entre a variável dependente e as características demográficas e clínicas (idade, número de problemas de saúde, número de medicamentos, hipertensão, depressão, presença de déficit cognitivo ou demência). RESULTADOS: A prevalência do uso de pelo menos um FRID nos idosos foi de 87,9% (IC95% 84,9-90,8). Mostrou-se associada ao uso de pelo menos um FRID a hipertensão (OR=2,06; IC95% 1,17-3,62) e uso de sete medicamentos ou mais (OR=2,82; IC95% 1,53-5,21). Foram associados ao uso dos FRID atuantes no sistema nervoso, o uso de sete medicamentos ou mais (OR=2,06; IC95% 1,41-3,00) e depressão (OR=2,67; IC95% 1,81-3,93). Para o uso de FRID atuantes no sistema cardiovascular, mostraram-se associados o uso de sete medicamentos ou mais (OR=2,04; IC95% 1,34-3,09) e hipertensão (OR=3,65; IC95% 2,41-5,52). CONCLUSÕES: Foi identificada alta prevalência de FRID, salientando-se a necessidade de uma maior atenção na escolha de medicamentos para esta população, ao processo de acompanhamento farmacoterapêutico e o ao desenvolvimento de estratégias de prevenção de quedas, priorizando-se os fatores associados identificados.Objective: Drugs called Fall-Risk-Incrising Drugs (FRID) are associated with a higher risk of falls amongaged people. The present study evaluated the use of such drugs among aged patients with postmenopausal osteoporosis who attended to the “Mais vida” Program and the associated factors. Methods: A cross-sectional study was carried out using the medical records of aged women (age ≥ 60 years) with postmenopausal osteoporosis, with continuous use of at least one medication, included in the Program between September/2011 and December/2013 (n=478). FRIDs were identified and characterized as a dependent variable for the univariate and multivariate analysis (use of any FRIDs; use of any FRID of the cardiovascular therapeutic group; or use of any FRID of the central nervous system therapeutic group). Multiple independent variables were used in these analysis (age, number of health problems, number of medications, hypertension, depression, presence of cognitive deficit or dementia). Results: The prevalence of FRID use was 87.9% (95%CI 84.9-90.8). Hypertension was associated with the use of any FRID (OR=2.06; 95%CI 1.17-3.62), as well as the use of seven or more medications (OR=2.82; 95%CI 1.53-5.21). As for the central nervous system FRIDs, its use was associated with the use of seven or more medications (OR=2.06; 95%CI 1.41-3.00) and depression (OR=2.67; 95%CI 1.81-3.93). For the use of cardiovascular system FRID, the use of seven or more medications (OR = 2.04, 95% CI 1.34-3.09) and hypertension (OR = 3.65, 95% CI, 2.41-5.52) was associated. Conclusion: A high prevalence of FRID use was identified, reinforcing the need for greater attention to the choice of drugs for this population, to the pharmacotherapeutic follow-up process and to the development of fall prevention strategies, which can be guided by prioritizing the associated factors identified in the present study.porUniversidade Federal de Minas GeraisUFMGBrasilFAR - DEPARTAMENTO DE FARMÁCIA SOCIALMED - DEPARTAMENTO DE APARELHO LOCOMOTORMED - DEPARTAMENTO DE CLÍNICA MÉDICARevista médica de Minas GeraisQuedasOsteoporose pós-menopausaIdosoMedicamentos - efeitos colateraisSaude - prevençãoTratamento farmacológicoQuedasOsteoporose pós-menopausaIdososEfeitos colateraisPrevençãoTratamento farmacológicoUso de medicamentos que aumentam o risco de queda entre pacientes com osteoporose na pós-menopausaUse of drugs that increase the risk of falling between patients with osteoporosis in post menopauseinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlehttps://rmmg.org/artigo/detalhes/2450Ana Luiza Caetano MachadoMariana Martins Gonzaga do NascimentoAndressa Souza MagalhâesFernanda Campos PinheiroAdriana Maria KakehasiEdgar Nunes de MoraesCristina Mariano Ruasapplication/pdfinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFMGinstname:Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG)instacron:UFMGLICENSELicense.txtLicense.txttext/plain;
