The factor investigated in this research was the residence time in kiln (exposure at controlled temperature 60 °C) of specimens: 0 (wood tested at room temperature and moisture content around to 12%), 168, 456, 720, and 2160 hours, simulating the reaction of the material in confined roof structures. Compression parallel to the grain tests were conducted according to the methods of the Brazilian Standard Code ABNT NBR 7190 (1997). ANOVA results indicated that the temperature (60 °C) had a significant influence in the five exposure times. All studied wood species showed an increase in the fc0 value with increasing time of exposure at 60 °C. For Ec0, this phenomenon occurred only for the jatobá tamarindo and cupiúba wood species.O objetivo desta pesquisa foi determinar a influência do tempo de exposição a 60 °C na resistência à compressão paralela ao grão (fc0) e módulo de elasticidade na compressão paralela ao grão (Ec0) para cupiúba (Goupia glabra), eucalipto ( espécies de madeira Eucalyptus saligna), garapeira (Apuleia leiocarpa) e jatobá tamarindo (Hymeneae sp.). O fator investigado nesta pesquisa foi o tempo de permanência no forno (exposição a temperatura controlada de 60°C) dos corpos de prova: 0 (madeira testada em temperatura ambiente e teor de umidade em torno de 12%), 168, 456, 720 e 2160 horas, simulando a reação do material em estruturas de cobertura confinadas. Os ensaios de compressão paralela aos grãos foram conduzidos de acordo com os métodos da Norma Brasileira ABNT NBR 7190 (1997). Os resultados da ANOVA indicaram que a temperatura (60 °C) teve influência significativa nos cinco tempos de exposição. Todas as espécies lenhosas estudadas apresentaram aumento no valor de fc0 com o aumento do tempo de exposição a 60 °C.
