Resumo: The aim of this article is to examine theproblem of political knowledge and its relation to political action in Machiavelli’s thought. In order to achieve this purpose, our methodological choice consists in comparing certain passages of Plato’s Statesmanwith Chapter XXV of The Prince. The comparison between the two authors allows us to grasp some specific features of Machiavelli’s reflection, clarifying how it distances itself from the tradition of classical political philosophy.

Para realizá-lo, nossa escolha metodológica consiste no cotejamento entre certas passagens do Político de Platão com o capítulo XXV de O príncipe.
