Resumo: The objective of this paper is to analyze the relationship between Brazilian democracy and the role of political parties. I will try to examine the current directions that guide the electoral and party dispute, raising some discussions about the importance of democracy and its consequences regarding the effective participation of the Brazilian citizen in the democratic process, as well as the contribution of the political parties to the consolidation of democracy in Brazil.
