Resumo: Knowledge about the technological properties of wood makes it possible to obtain parameters that help determine the proper use of this material. In this context, an important property to be determined is the ability of wood to resist impacts. Therefore, this study aimed to determine the impact strength of Corymbia citriodora (Hook.) K.D. Hill & L.A.S. Johnson submerged in water and dried outdoors. For this purpose, 20 samples of each treatment were used, with dimensions of 2 x 2 x 30 cm, respectively, width, thickness and length. These were subjected in their central region to the impact of the Charpy pendulum on the tangential plane of the growth rings. To evaluate the behavior of the impact strength of wood from different treatments, the data were subjected to analysis of variance and detecting the existence of at least one difference between treatments, the means were compared by Tukey’s test at the level of 5 % of probability. Open-air dried wood resulted in the highest averages for the evaluated parameters, with an impact resistance value of 92.51 KJ.m-2, while saturated wood presented a value of 67.31 KJ.m-2. The results found showed that Corymbia citriodora wood was more resistant to impact when dried outdoors.

Nesse contexto, uma importante propriedade a ser determinada é a capacidade da madeira resistir a impactos. Diante disso, esse estudo teve como objetivo determinar a resistência ao impacto da madeira de Corymbia citriodora (Hook.) K.D. Hill & L.A.S. Johnson submersa em água e seca ao ar livre. Para tanto, foram usados 20 corpos de prova de cada tratamento com dimensões de 2 x 2 x 30 cm, respectivamente, largura, espessura e comprimento. Estes foram submetidos em sua região central ao impacto do pêndulo de Charpy no plano tangencial dos anéis de crescimento. Para avaliar o comportamento da resistência ao impacto da madeira dos tratamentos distintos, os dados foram submetidos à análise de variância e detectando-se a existência de ao menos uma diferença entre os tratamentos, as médias foram comparadas pelo teste de Tukey ao nível de 5 % de probabilidade. A madeira seca ao ar livre resultou nas maiores médias para os parâmetros avaliados, com valor de resistência ao impacto de 92,51 KJ.m-2, enquanto a madeira saturada apresentou um valor de 67,31 KJ.m-2.
