Resumo: | The cloning of eucalyptus has promoted the homogenization of the technological properties of the wood, increasing the productivity and reducing the cutting cycle. It is important to investigate the physical and mechanical properties of the wood of these clones to indicate the most appropriate final application. This paper had as objective to determine important physical and mechanical properties for the use of the wood from 6 species/hybrids of genusEucalyptus from clonal plantations in three Brazilian states. The raw material was selected randomly, and six trees from each clone were collected. The wood samples and the tests were based on the ASTM, NBR and FN standards, to determine the basic density andapparent, impact strength, absorbed work, coefficient of resilience and dynamic cote. The analysis of variance (F test at 5% significance) used, and the Tukey’s test (5% significance) also was used to differentiate the means from the results. All clones were classified as low basic density and with medium to low shading wood. The results of the anisotropic factor found can be considered quite satisfactory, presenting normal dimensional stability. A direct relationship between the wood density and the static bending coefficients is evidenced, because as the density increases there is a significant increase in modulus of elasticity and modulus of rupture. The origin of the wood was not considered. However, age may have been a decisive element in some properties. |

However, age may have been a decisive element in some properties.
