Resumo: Paralympic sport is based on performance and requires the planning of physical, technical and psychological training. Factors such as structure, duration and intensity of specific training and disability type might influence hormone levels of blood-free testosterone and cortisol. Few studies have examined the psychobiological aspects in elite athletes with disabilities and their associations with hormonal status. Although there are similarities between the training of elite athletes with and without disabilities, there are certain important variations that take the relationship between hormones and behaviour in Paralympic athletes into account. This article will provide information expanding the level of analysis of close and reciprocal variables involved in the influence of the endocrine system in the psychobiological domains of Paralympic athletes.

Fatores como estrutura, duração e intensidade do treinamento específico e tipo de deficiência podem influenciar os níveis hormonais de testosterona livre no sangue e cortisol. Poucos estudos examinaram os aspectos psicobiológicos em atletas de elite com deficiência e suas associações com o estado hormonal. Embora existam semelhanças entre o treinamento de atletas de elite com e sem deficiência, existem algumas variações importantes que levam em consideração a relação entre hormônios e comportamento em atletas paraolímpicos. Este artigo fornecerá informações ampliando o nível de análise das variáveis próximas e recíprocas envolvidas na influência do sistema endócrino nos domínios psicobiológicos de atletas paraolímpicos.CNPq - Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e TecnológicoFAPEMIG - Fundação de Amparo à Pesquisa do Estado de Minas GeraisCAPES - Coordenação de Aperfeiçoamento de Pessoal de Nível SuperiorengUniversidade Federal de Minas GeraisUFMGBrasilEEF - DEPARTAMENTO DE ESPORTESApunts Educación Física y DeportesParatletasEsportes para Pessoas com DeficiênciaHormôniosPara-athleticsHormonesSports for persons with disabilitiesThe potential influence of Cortisol and Testosterone on psychobiological aspects in Paralympic athletesA potencial influência do Cortisol e da Testosterona nos aspectos psicobiológicos em atletas paraolímpicosinfo:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersioninfo:eu-repo/semantics/articlehttps://revista-apunts.com/en/the-potential-influence-of-cortisol-and-testosterone-in-the-psychobiological-aspects-in-paralympic-athletes/João Paulo Pereira RosaAndressa da SilvaDayane Ferreira RodriguesEduardo StielerMarco Tulio de Melloinfo:eu-repo/semantics/openAccessreponame:Repositório Institucional da UFMGinstname:Universidade Federal de Minas Gerais (UFMG)instacron:UFMGLICENSELicense.txtLicense.txttext/plain;
