In Brazil, the statistical records on patients with chronic wound are incipient. Little is known about the epidemiology of this aggravation and the assistance provided. Objectives: to analyze the assistance given to patients with chronic wound care attended at an outpatient clinic. Method: a descriptive, cross-sectional study carried out in a reference outpatient clinic on wounds in the northern region of Minas Gerais, with a sample of 503 patients seen in the years from 2015 to 2018. The data were extracted from the charts and worksheets of the service. The study was registered and approved by the Research Ethics Committee under CAAE - 01581612.0.0000.5149. Results: the mean age was 67 years, 53.1% were women, 60.8% had arterial hypertension and 41.1% Diabetes mellitus, 44.1% used antibiotics and 35.0% steroids. Regarding the wounds, 25.0% were mixed ulcers, 18.7% were diabetic feet and 17.7% were venous ulcers. The physician was responsible for the prescription of 91.3% of the treatments, which consisted of 73.9% of hydrogel with alginate, 54.9% were attended only once and the out form had not been registered in 74.1% of the patients. Some sociodemographic and clinical data of the patients were found in a small amount or were absent. Conclusion: the study allowed us to know the relevant aspects of the profile of patients with chronic wound and fragility in the records of the visits, noting the need to create mechanisms for standardization of care and the creation of indicators of the quality of care that allow the evaluation of the effectiveness of the offered.
