Resumo: This study evaluated the prevalence and factors associated with excessive time spent watching TV in adolescents during the Covid-19 pandemic. This is a cross-sectional study, carried out with 287 adolescents aged 11 to 16 years. Data were collected through a self-administered online questionnaire. Excessive time watching TV was evaluated as an outcome. As independent variables, sociodemographic and behavioral factors were evaluated. Prevalence ratios (PR) and 95% confidence intervals (CI95%) were estimated using multiple Poisson regression models. It was observed that 24.0% of students spent excessive time in front of the TV during the pandemic. Being age (PR=0.90; CI 95%: 0.83-0.97), practice of physical activity (PR=1.12; CI95%:1.03-1.21) and sleep quality (PR=1.12; 95%CI:1.00-1.18), associated with this behavior. It is concluded that the high time watching TV during the Covid-19 pandemic is associated with younger adolescents, insufficiently active and with poor sleep quality.
