APPLICATION OF MUSKA MOSSTON TEACHING STYLE IN SOCCER: A LOOK AT THE COACHES’ PERSPECTIVE

Resumo: Soccer coaches at the youth level are a vital factor in developing efficient players. Beliefs about how sport should be taught determine the actions covered in training. The present study aimed to identify which Muska Mosston teaching style is most used in sports initiation. This work collected data from a translated and adapted version of the Instrument to collect teachers' beliefs about their teaching styles with 7 coaches. The results revealed that the divergent discovery style was the most used. Considering only the sub-9 coaches, the most chosen teaching style was the command style. Considering the sub-13 coaches, the most notable style was that of divergent discovery. Finally, the sub-15 coaches selected the task style. It is concluded that the coaches presented beliefs more focused on a production style.

Las creencias sobre cómo se debe enseñar el deporte determinan las acciones que se tratan en el entrenamiento. El presente estudio tuvo como objetivo identificar cuál es el estilo de enseñanza de Muska Mosston más utilizado en la iniciación deportiva. Este trabajo recopiló datos de una versión traducida y adaptada del Instrumento para recopilar las creencias de los profesores sobre sus estilos de enseñanza con 7 entrenadores. Los resultados revelaron que el estilo de descubrimiento divergente fue el más utilizado. Considerando únicamente a los entrenadores menores de 9 años, el estilo de enseñanza más elegido fue el estilo de mando. Considerando a los entrenadores sub-13, el estilo más notable fue el de descubrimiento divergente. Finalmente, los entrenadores sub-15 seleccionaron el estilo de tarea. Se concluye que los entrenadores presentaron creencias más enfocadas a un estilo de producción.Os treinadores de Futebol nas categorias de base são fator vital para o desenvolvimento de jogadores eficientes. As crenças sobre como o esporte deve ser ensinado determinam as ações abordadas nos treinamentos. O presente estudo objetivou identificar qual o estilo de ensino de Muska Mosston é mais utilizado na iniciação ao Futebol. Este trabalho produziu dados a partir da resposta de sete treinadores de Futebol a uma versão traduzida e adaptada do Instrumento de autoavaliação sobre estilos de ensino. Os resultados revelaram que o estilo de descoberta divergente foi o mais utilizado. Considerando apenas os treinadores do sub-9, o estilo de ensino mais escolhido foi o estilo de comando. Considerando os treinadores do sub-13, o estilo mais assinalado foi o de descoberta divergente. Por fim, os treinadores do sub-15 selecionaram o estilo de tarefa.
