 The South American integration process began at the end of the 20th century. The main initiatives of approximation between the countries of the subcontinent were MER­COSUR, UNASUR and IIRSA-COSIPLAN. This last initiative had a great impact materia­lized especially in border areas. Critics of the IIRSA-COSIPLAN claim that infrastructure pro­jects are characterized by the lack of participa­tion of communities in the areas where works are carried out. The lack of observance of so­cio-environmental aspects results in a series of negative impacts in the environmental, social, economic and cultural spheres. The present paper will present an analysis from the pers­pective of International Relations of the socio­-environmental impacts of IIRSA-COSIPLAN in the Central Arc of the Brazilian border. This is a qualitative research, based on a bibliographical analysis.
