Resumo: In the late 19th century the region of Vale do Paranapanema had become the center of important migration movements, two worthy recognition: the first was formed primarily by mine workers, men who explored the depths of Brazilian “sertão” searching for lands that could make their way into the agrarian market in the state of São Paulo; The second one was marked by the coffee economy and fights over control of the land, sectional market and political power. Therefore this work intent is to analyze such phenomenon on the borders of “Vale do Paranapanema”, believing that the border is a place for conflicts as well as cultural and economic tensions. The timeline here expressed starts with the land marking in 1850 until it ends with the arrival of rail train in the city of Salto Grande/SP in 1909, moment that would represent some territorial and political reordering in the area. The textual conception is based on chroniclers and scientists who searched the countryside and printed their impressions about these movements.

The textual conception is based on chroniclers and scientists who searched the countryside and printed their impressions about these movements.
