Resumo: This article deals with the staging of the musical Man of La Mancha (Dale Wasserman, 1965) in Brazilian theater in the years 1972-1973, produced by Paulo Pontes and directed by Flávio Rangel. The objective is to understand the reading of Quixote as an ideal of justice and freedom in a context marked by authoritarianism, especially in relation to the figure of the artist / intellectual.
