Among the various areas of activity of a forest engineer, there is landscaping and the perspective focused on project development. This research aimed to quantitatively characterize the plant species at the State Center for Professional Education Arlindo Neckel (CEEPAN), where 108 plants were inventoried, 8 tree species, 2 palm species, 1 shrub species and 5 herbaceous species. All species divided into 13 families. As for the origin of the species, they were considered native to the cerrado and exotic from other states or countries, with 2 species present being native, the jatobá (Hymenaea martiana hayne) and the white ipe (Tabebuia roseo-alba). There was a dominant presence of Tradescantia pallida purpurea (46.29%), Roystonea oleracea (15.74%), and Tabebuia roseo-alba (7.40%), where such numbers show that there is a very high percentage of herbaceous on the site and a small percentage of tree species, which demonstrates that in the future a landscaping project with a sustainable forest management plan for the afforestation of CEEPAN, promoting a more heterogeneous afforestation, avoiding the planting of exotic species and prioritizing the use of native plants.
