Resumo: | The construction industry is one of the most employed sectors in the country, with a high incidence of accidents and fatalities due to its occupational activities, with working at heights being one of the primary locations for accidents. Therefore, it is necessary to intervene in risky situations by identifying causes, predicting risks, controlling them, and implementing mitigating actions. In this situation, to achieve positive outcomes in minimizing accidents, both employers and employees must fulfill their responsibilities. In Brazil, these responsibilities are outlined through Regulatory Standards, specifically NR18 for the construction sector and NR35 for work at heights. This study aims to analyze accident prevention measures in activities at heights to avoid mishaps and control work environments and conditions. It provides a technical guide to facilitate compliance and implementation of protective measures to mitigate existing risks. The results indicate that accidents caused by falls from heights primarily result from three factors: (i) deficient training, which impacts the lack of awareness among workers to recognize risky situations and the incorrect use of protective equipment; (ii) lack of supervision and monitoring by competent professionals, affecting the level of pre-existing risk; and (iii) negligence, particularly in the storage and maintenance of equipment. In conclusion, a prior analysis of the construction site regarding measures to protect against work-related accidents at heights safeguards lives. |

In conclusion, a prior analysis of the construction site regarding measures to protect against work-related accidents at heights safeguards lives.
