Objective: To analyze the profile of managers of the Food and Nutrition Surveillance System (SISVAN) in Mato Grosso do Sul (MS) and the activities carried out. Methods: Cross-sectional, descriptive and quantitative study, carried out between 2021 and 2022 with SISVAN coordinators in MS, using an electronic form, investigating characteristics of managers, activities carried out, training and difficulties. Results analyzed using chi-square to compare proportions. Results: There were 34 participants, most of them female, nutritionists and nurses; with up to 2 years in management and with difficulties in operationalizing SISVAN. Nutritionists reported more training, although there was no difference in terms of knowledge and difficulties. The majority, regardless of training, only collect data, but do not use it to generate information that can support decision-making. Conclusion: The majority of managers are nutritionists, with up to 2 years in the role. They report difficulties, low knowledge and few use the data collected to generate information that can support decision-making for more efficient management of the system in municipalities.
