Resumo: The primary objective of this paper is to expound upon a dedicated research effort aimed at the analysis of the political contributions of Patrícia Rehder Galvão, commonly known as Pagu (1910-1962), as manifested in the newspaper "O Homem do Povo" (2009). In this periodical, Pagu collaborated as an author alongside Oswald de Andrade, and the content in question was disseminated over a span ranging from March 27 to April 13, 1931. This investigation is conducted within the overarching backdrop of the prevailing patriarchal milieu of the 19th century, which, despite undergoing transformation, continued to exert influence through various forms and constraints for a substantial portion of the 20th century. It is discernible that the landscape of Brazilian culture was notably devoid of female activists prior to the pioneering endeavors of Patrícia Rehder Galvão. A versatile figure, she functioned as a writer, cartoonist, designer, and journalist, with her literary output encompassing various pertinent and often contentious thematic explorations, most notably exemplified in her novel "Parque Industrial" (2013), initially published in 1933. Within the pages of "O Homem do Povo" (2009), the focal subject of this inquiry, she unequivocally articulated her steadfast commitment to the cause of gender equality and underscored the imperativeness of enhanced female participation in the political landscape of her era. In addition, her writings delved into the conceptualization of idealized archetypes for both men and women, while projecting a vision of what gender equality could potentially entail. Theoretical underpinnings for this research endeavor have been derived from a consortium of scholarly sources, notably from the domain of Modernism and its antecedents. Notable authorities in this context include Nelly Novaes Coelho, who contributed an entry dedicated to Pagu in the "Dicionário crítico de escritoras brasileiras" (2002), as well as Wilson Martins, whose work "A Literatura Brasileira: O Modernismo" (1967) further augments our understanding of the literary and historical backdrop. Moreover, Augusto de Campos has provided invaluable insights through his work "Pagu, vida e obra" (2014), among other pertinent academic resources. Keywords: Brazilian Literature; Homem do Povo newspaper; Patrícia Galvão (Pagu); Oswald de Andrade.
