Resumo: | Industrial activities can generate low, medium and high intensity environmental impacts on the environment. The Tannery Plants generate liquid waste that, if not properly treated, can be classified as a high polluting potential. In order to analyze how a tertiary biological treatment would behave, such as post-treatment of tannery effluent, a polishing pond with baffles was implemented in a Plant located in the rural area of Campo Grande/MS. Due to the high concentration of agents that inhibit algae growth, dilution of the effluent was performed to activate their flowering. After the adaptation of the algae, tests were carried out at different times of hydraulic detention, lasting 5, 10 and 15 days, with raw effluent, and controlling the inlet flow. It was then observed that the TDH with the best efficiency for the removal of organic matter was that of 10 days, presenting 70.86% of removal of soluble BOD5,20, 49.49% of total COD removal and 66.90% of TOC removal. In this way, pointing out that the refinement of this treatment is biologically possible, in case it becomes necessary for the industry to improve the standards of effluent release in the receiving body. |
