O custo do desperdício de medicamentos em unidades básicas de saúde de Campo Grande/MS

Resumo: | The health system in Brazil is experiencing a paradox. While millions of Brazilians suffer from the lack of medication, it is common for them to return as a disposal to the health units, still within the validity period, generating waste of public resources. Or worse, they are discarded in the common garbage contaminating the soil, water and the human being. Or, even more serious, the consumer passes it on to another user, creating a great risk to public health. The project analyzed the quantity of hypertension and diabetes drugs that return to health facilities, both in and out of date, in the form of disposal, in order to measure the waste of public resources. And through research forms it was reflected on the population's knowledge about unnecessary acquisitions, the consequences of incorrect disposal and the waste of public resources. The medication for Diabetes mellitus that quantitatively returned the most was Metformin 850 mg. The hypertension medication that quantitatively returned the most was Furosemide 40mg. However, the representative of the cost of waste was Spironolactone 25mg, which despite having returned in a smaller quantity, generated greater waste to the public purse. The medicine that quantitatively returned the least was Verapamil 80 mg. However, the representative of the lowest cost in waste was Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg. From this, it was concluded that the most returned medication does not necessarily represent the highest cost in waste and that the problem with disposal is much greater than the data found, since most of the disposal is done in the common garbage, toilets and copies, making it difficult to quantify. |

Enquanto milhões de brasileiros sofrem com a falta de medicamentos é comum o seu retorno como descarte para as unidades de saúde, ainda dentro da validade, gerando desperdício de recursos públicos. Ou pior, são descartados no lixo comum contaminando o solo, a água e o próprio ser humano. Ou, ainda mais grave, o consumidor repassa para outro usuário, gerando grande risco à saúde pública. O projeto analisou o quantitativo de medicamentos de hipertensão e diabetes que retornam às unidades de saúde, dentro e fora da validade, na forma de descarte, a fim de mensurar o desperdício dos recursos públicos. E por meio de formulários de pesquisa refletiu-se sobre o conhecimento da população sobre o as aquisições desnecessárias, as consequências do descarte incorreto e o desperdício de recursos públicos. O medicamento para Diabetes mellitus que quantitativamente mais retornou foi a Metformina 850 mg. O medicamento de hipertensão arterial que quantitativamente mais retornou foi a Furosemida 40mg. Contudo, o representante do custo do desperdício foi a Espironolactona 25mg, que apesar de ter retornado em menor quantidade gerou maior desperdício ao erário público. O medicamento que quantitativamente menos retornou foi o Verapamil 80 mg. Contudo, o representante do menor custo no desperdício foi a Hidroclorotiazida 25mg.
