SUMMARY Community-Based Tourism is a form of tourism that aims to generate income for groups and associations of people. These groups use the available resources in a sustainable way, seeking to minimize negative impacts in the cultural, social and economic areas, among other aspects. In view of this, this study sought to answer the following question: What are the main challenges to be overcome, from the point of view of the practical reality of the Aldeia Limão Verde indigenous community? The main objective was to analyze the possibility of implementing Community-Based Tourism in the Indigenous community Aldeia Limão Verde in Aquidauana-MS, based on the observation of the challenges to be overcome. To this end, the specific objectives were: to identify the challenges and potentialities of the TBC to contribute to the generation of work and income for the indigenous community of the Limão Verde Village: a) To identify the challenges and potentialities of the TBC to contribute to the generation of work and income for the indigenous community of the Limão Verde Village; b) verify whether there is an expectation from the community that TBC will be strengthened; c) analyze how the TBC can contribute to the promotion of the sustainable development of the community; d) to verify whether the conditions in the area are conducive to TBC, in order to reduce uncertainties regarding tourism planning. This study finds its justification in the author's experience in the area, combined with his deep interest in deepening the understanding of the subject. The results showed that identifying the challenges and potential of Community-Based Tourism in contributing to the generation of work and income for the indigenous community of Aldeia Limão Verde is a fundamental step for the sustainable development of this population.
