The work aims to investigate how is done stock management of the industrial maintenance in a sugar and alcohol plant. To this, the literature review was divided into two parts: the first deals with stock management and the second discusses stock levels. We made a qualitative ande descriptive research, using case study as a research design. As a result, we observed that the process is structured and the information system used appears to meet the company's demands. Despite this, there are still errors that can hinder stock management, and these errors are related to human failure. In general, we observed that the company uses two forms of purchase orders (POs). Recurring purchases, in which POs are generated based on analysis of the report in the system. In this case, the minimum stock system is used, with an order point for replenishing the item. And sporadic purchases of specific materials, in which POs are carried out by the sectors that need the material. In the case of recurring purchases, the majority of items are classified as A items, and some items as B, considering the ABC Curve. Specific materials are mostly classified as C. When it comes to items registered in the system, it was observed that only 5% of items are purchased on a recurring basis. We concluded that there are opportunities for improvement to optimize stock management, such as specializing buyers in specific materials.
