Resumo: This article is an account of the experience of an autistic mother,her expectations and challenges upon discovering that her daughter has autism. The daily struggle faced, due to the fact that, when we don't have any case in the family, the subject is not researched or talked about. From the moment it is discovered, the search for websites that provide information about it becomes our daily bibles. Due to practicality and the recommendation of professionals in the field, after seeking help, I turned to several health websites, specific to the area of autism. There are many challenges faced daily, due to inexperience and fear of making mistakes when dealing with children. A diagnosis that at first we don't believe, but as the days go by, we realize that we have to face it and give this child a better living condition and autonomy. We conclude that the sooner we seek help,the more we read experience reports from other families, we can help ourselves and help our children become independent in their daily activities.

We conclude that the sooner we seek help,the more we read experience reports from other families, we can help ourselves and help our children become independent in their daily activities.Este artigo trata de um relato de experiência de uma mãe de autista, as suas expectativas e desafios ao descobrir que sua filha tem autismo. A luta diária enfrentada, pelo fato de que,quando não temos nenhum caso na família, o assunto não é pesquisado e nem falado. A partir do momento que se descobre, a busca pelos sites que informam a respeito tornam- se nossas bíblias diárias. Pela praticidade e pela recomendação de profissionais da área, após buscar ajuda, recorri a vários sites de saúde, específicos na área do autismo. Os desafios enfrentados diariamente são muitos, pela inexperiência e medo de errar ao lidar com a criança. Um diagnóstico que a principio não acreditamos, mas com o passar dos dias, verificamos que temos que enfrentar e dar uma condição de vida melhor e autonomia a essa criança.
