This work presents the contributions of reading to the development childish. It is considered that reading practices are essential for the integral development of each child, in this way they need to be stimulated since childhood. The analysis is conducted with reference to the following question: to what extent the practices used by the pedagogue can be a positive factor for encouraging the practice of reading? For this, initially, the main references on the subject, more specifically with a focus on theoretical foundation on reading, with emphasis on Early Childhood Education in the different stages, daycare and preschool, considering the specificities of each age group. Your methodological procedures initially involved a literature review. Research has a qualitative nature and is classified as a descriptive study, as the purpose is essentially bibliographic. The main research sources were articles published in scientific journals, books in the area and normative documents and mandatory for Early Childhood Education, mainly in the period 2013 to 2023, last 10 years. Given the scope of the proposed theme, it was found that the children's reading is intrinsically related to the affective, cognitive, engine and social, contributing to the enrichment of imagination, creation, logical thinking, from the verbal repertoire, in addition to promoting curiosity and need to expand knowledge during the appreciation of a story.
