This article presents a study on wood-plastic composites and their relevance as a sustainable alternative in the industry. The objective of this study was to conduct a literature review on the concepts involved in this field, highlighting their positive implications for the environment. The article provides information about the history, composition, production process, advantages, disadvantages, and applications for this product. The method used to develop this study was academic research of publications, using databases such as the CAPES Periodicals Portal and Google Scholar. The article addresses the various applications of wood-plastic composites, demonstrating the versatility and adaptability of these materials in different industrial sectors, highlighting their favorable properties due to their composition and potential to reduce environmental impact. The study reinforces the value of renewable and non-renewable materials and emphasizes the need for investments and research in this field, such as optimizing production processes and improving mechanical properties.
