Resumo: | Brazil became a major exporter of animal meat mainly during the 1970s, with the migration of the population to the less inhabited regions of the country, and with the introduction of Brasília as the country's capital, there was greater development of the economy in the Central region. West, with a large part dedicated to agribusiness. Livestock has a large share in the Brazilian GDP, and currently extensive livestock farming corresponds to 90% in Brazil. Thus, this article aims to highlight the production models and their consequences, in the current model it is necessary to demand large areas of pasture, causing deforestation for this type of activity to make a profit, in addition to emitting large amounts of CO2 to the atmosphere. Observing a global scale, in 1997 with the Kyoto protocol there was the introduction of the commercialization of carbon credits, which is an alternative for the reduction of greenhouse gases (GHGs), in this way the country or companies have carbon release targets into the atmosphere, making this trade in carbon credits help in more sustainable development, having lucrative alternatives to keep the revenue reducing the environmental aggressiveness of this activity. Thus, this work concludes by bringing possibilities both in terms of demand with government policies to encourage alternative foods, as well as in relation to supply with the ease of obtaining green credits in order to encourage the producer to change his production model, then discuss the model currently used in the country, bringing alternatives such as carbon credit trading can influence both the country's economy and the citizen's quality of life, being better used to generate profits for the nation. |
