Resumo: Started in the sixteenth century, the occupation in Brazil brought great ecological damages, characterized by the lack of planning and destruction of the natural resources, mainly of the ciliary forests. The vegetation in a permanent preservation area plays an important environmental role, mainly in the maintenance of water quantity and quality, soil stability and erosion process control, based on the broad aspects of the benefits that this type of vegetation brings to the ecosystem, exercising a protective function on the biotic and abiotic natural resources, in addition to creating favorable conditions for the gene flow among populations, in this context, the present work aims to analyze the recovery of a degraded and altered area in APP area, through the forest recomposition at the margins of the stream background urban area in the city of Cuiabá-MT. For that, it was used as a method of quantitative research of the seedlings considered adult and young, using as an instrument of data collection: bibliographic research, in situ visit and photographic record. The research was carried out from December 2017 to July 2018. The methodology used was the indicators, height and diameter at the breast height (DBH) of the seedlings planted in the two reforested areas, considering that the plant species that present a higher height to 4 m in diameter of chest at the height of the chest larger than 15 cm, are already considered adult trees, and less considered young that deserve care and monitoring, successional class of each species considering that the pioneers have a faster growth, secondary and climax , have slower growth, more than are the guaranteed trees in the future. The data were compared in 2017 and 2018. The results of the survey revealed that, in the survey conducted in 2017 in area A and area B, 24 adult and 26 seedlings were found to be still young, being one total of 50 individuals. In the year of 2018 in the survey carried out, 43 adults and 52 young individuals were counted in area A and area B, with a stem less than 15 cm (CAP), totaling 95 adults and young people in 2018, we had an increase of 66% compared to the previous year. Of these individuals, 78% belong to the pioneer ecological group, 11% secondary and 11% climax. In the year 2017, we had individuals belonging to 5 different families, in the year 2018 in addition to these 5 families, we had an increase of 3 different families, totaling 8 families. As for the genres, in the year 2017 we had 6 genres, in the year 2018 we had 8 different genres. The most outstanding was the number of individuals: Handroanthus spp. (Ipe), Myracruduon sp. (aroeira), Cecropia sp. (embaúba), Guazuma sp. (mutambo), Croton sp. (Sangrad'água), and Genipa sp. (Jenipapo).
