Resumo: | This study aimed to evaluate the quality parameters of tomato (Solanum lycopersicum) in habit with different types of intercropping with legumes. A randomized block design with 5 treatments and 6 replications was used. The treatments correspond to the intercropping of leguminous species such as forage peanuts, sunn hemp, common bean, untreated (without coverage and with a recommended half dose of nitrogen fertilization) and Control (no coverage and recommended nitrogen dose). The instrumental parameters of color (L*, Chroma and Hue angle), total phenols content, antioxidant potential by the DPPH method, lycopene and β- carotene, soluble solids content and chlorophyll content were evaluated. For the parameters of color, chlorophyll content, content of total phenols, lycopene and β-carotene, there was no significant difference in terms of the adoption of vegetable coverings. The soluble solids content (°Brix) was higher where there was no treatment, however, the treatments with green coverings had better values compared to the control. The antioxidant potential (DDPH) was more influenced by the green pork bean coverage. It can be concluded that the adoption of intercropped leguminous species such as jack bean, sunn hemp and forage peanut does not interfere negatively in the qualitative aspect of tomato fruits. |
