Resumo: In 2016, Brasil was surprised by a Zika virus (ZIKV) epidemic, a virus transmitted by the Aedes aegypti mosquito. In addition, a worrying increase in cases of Chikungunya virus (CHIKV) has also been observed. As emerging diseases, there is a lack of information when it comes to their behavior, morbidity, mortality and lethality. Besides, Aedes' control has been a substantial challenge, especially in developing countries. Objective – To describe the incidence of Zika and Chikungunya cases and the activities related to the vector density in the Vale do Peixoto and Oeste Matogrossense (health regions from Mato Grosso) in 2016. Methodology – This is a descriptive approach within an ecological study. Only reported cases from Notifiable Diseases Information System (SINAN) were considered; information on household coverage was obtained from the National Plan to Combat Microcephaly (PNEM) Data Worksheet; data on Predator Infestation Index (PII) and predominant deposit types were achieved from the Aedes aegypti Index Rapid Survey (AaIRS). Descriptive measures are provided according to the type of variable. Results - The Oeste Matogrossense and Vale do Peixoto health regions reported 1,564 and 1,019 cases of ZIKV, with cumulative incidence of 817.93 and 1,003.61 cases per 100,000 people, respectively; Also, there were 06 and 09 suspected CHIKV cases, presenting a low cumulative incidence of 3.14 and 8.86, respectively. These Both health regions weren’t able to maintain coverage of 100% home visits in all cycles of home visits. On the other hand, most conties presented satisfactory PII. The Vale do Peixoto region presented greater home visits coverage than the Oeste Matogrossense throughout the cycles. The deposit type A2 (Storage tanks at ground level for domestic storage) was predominant in the Oeste Matogrossense while in Vale do Peixoto it was the D2 (solid waste). Conclusions – It was possible to identify the most vulnerable sites and those with the highest number of cases of disease in these regions, requiring investments and initiatives that may lead to the decreasing of the arboviruses' effects.
