Currently is observed that the high taxes of practical of crimes of some species, has called the attention the public power, in the attempt in finding a solution or efficient form in diminishing the levels of crime in the cities of the State of Mato Grosso. They are had as main form of assisting the combat to crime, the increase of cash in the police contingents, modernization of the equipment of the police forces and qualification of the professionals in public security. But one understands that the reduction of crime not only passes for the qualification of the police forces, but also for magnifying in the public politics in the social areas, aiming at to improve the pointers that evaluate the performance of a society in the social issue. The economists Mahbub ul Haq and Amartya Sen had developed the Human Development Index (HDI), which if became one of the forms most efficient to measure the degree of social welfare of a society, being widely used by the United Nations (UN). However, to evaluate the development of a city or a country only for the method of the taxes of familiar income, this has not been efficient to observe the development of a people. It appears thus, the interest in correlating the HDI with the indices of crime in six cities of the State of Mato Grosso. This rank, the cities of Campinápolis, Colniza, Lucas do Rio Verde, Nova Mutum, Primavera do Leste and Santa Terezinha had been selected for accomplishment of this study, in the interval of the years of 2010 the 2013. For in such a way, the Index of correlation of Pearson is used to measure the intensity of the correlation enters these two largenesses in these cities. And as resulted, the HDI if presents as an important factor, with an inverse correlation, when it has been compared with the taxes of robberies practised for a thousand inhabitants in the cities selected in the context of this work.
