Resumo: | The Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19) is classified as mild, moderate, severe and critical. In severe and critical cases, patients are hospitalized and may require invasive or non-invasive ventilatory support. The study is justified by the current context, and by the relevance for the construction of knowledge about the epidemiological profile of hospitalized patients. The objective was to describe the clinical-epidemiological profile of patients in the COVID-19 ward of the Hospital de Campanha in the municipality of Aragarças in the state of Goiás between the period from June 2020 to October 2021. This is an epidemiological study of the descriptive type. , retrospective and documentary. The place of study was the Municipal Getúlio Vargas in the municipality of Aragarças, Goiás, and data collection was carried out through documentary analysis of the medical records of hospitalized patients confirmed for COVID-19 provided by the Hospital, from June 2020 to October 2021. The variables observed were sex, age, race, symptoms, comorbidities, pregnancy, length of stay, use of ventilatory support and outcome. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee of the Federal University of Mato Grosso. To verify the absolute and relative frequency, the Excel version software was used. During the study period, 194 patients were hospitalized. Among those hospitalized with COVID-19, the following prevailed: age group between 50 and 69 years old (39.69%); Most with underlying disease (53.60%). Common symptoms at the beginning of the disease were cough (84.54%), dyspnea (82.99%) and fever (65.46%); the least common symptoms were hypothermia (1.03%), coryza (1.03%), dizziness (2.06%), headache (13.4%), loss of taste (13.92%), and loss of smell (17.01%). 84.5% required non-invasive ventilatory support, among them 60.3% were cured, 12.8 died and 26.9% worsened and required invasive mechanical ventilation and ICU admission. 61.85% of the inmates were discharged in an average of approximately 8 days. 25.26% were transferred and 12.89% died. The present study presented succinct data on the epidemiological and clinical profile of patients with COVID-19 hospitalized in the city, characterizing the morbidity and mortality of this condition. The importance of monitoring the epidemiological profile is highlighted in order to verify the course of the pathology, and thus trace new analyzes in order to find variables responsible for not determining a clinical and epidemiological profile among hospitalized patients affected by COVID-19 and, to serve as a comparison with a new post-vaccine epidemiological study, where we will be able to verify its importance and impact on society. |
