The habit of walking promotes interaction with the environment, making it a sustainable and economical practice, minimizing the use of motorized transport. For this, urban planning consistent with the real conditions of the region is necessary, placing pedestrians as a priority. Urban roads must be accessible and suitable for people to travel on foot. Thus, the Walkability Index (CI) was created, which measures the mobility and accessibility of urban roads using indicators. The general objective of the work was to determine the walkability index for the Ceará Sector in the city of Aragarças - GO. The CI was adapted from different studies and used in the works of Varajão (2019) and Paixão (2021), consisting of 17 indicators. The collected data were converted into grades for each sidewalk segment and applied in the formulation to obtain the average value of each index for that area. The notes of each indicator were presented using maps, and through their coloring it is possible to observe the places that need more attention. The best grades were for noise pollution indicators, sidewalk width, solid waste collection and leveling. Meanwhile, the lowest scores were for the indicators of crossings, lighting, accessibility, public use, shelter, facades, pedestrian flow and furniture. Finally, a typical design of a sidewalk segment is presented as a suggestion for improvements in the region.
