Condição de peso em crianças de creches participantes do Programa Escola com Saúde

The objective of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of underweight, overweight and obesity in children attending at day care centers visited by the School Health Program in the city of Cuiabá (MT) in 2014. A total of 1708 children were evaluated, 906 males and 802 females of 23 day care centers located in the urban area of the city of Cuiabá. The data used in the study were secondary, coming from the application of an anthropometric assessment sheet used by the multidisciplinary team of the School Health Program. Data analysis occurred in 2 moments. When the children's anthropometric data were doubled entry in Excel 2016® software. And in the analysis of the anthropometric indexes Weight / Age, Height / Age, Weight / Height and BMI / Age in SPSS statistical software. Statistical tests of chi-square were performed, but did not present significance values. About the total number of children evaluated, 0.5% presented Low Weight for Age, 2.0% for Height for Age and 0.4% for Weight / Height Deficits. The prevalences of Adequate Weight for Age, Adequate Stature for Age and Risk of Overweight were significant, with respective numbers at 96.7%, 98% and 11%. The prevalence of Overweight and Obesity was around 3% and 0.6% in the surveyed population. The study population was considered healthy and well nourished, because they´re insertion in a great socioeconomic environment favorable to its growth and development, due to the observation of high prevalence rates for eutrophy, prevalence of malnutrition and obesity below 2.3 and 7.2% established by World Health Organization.
