O profissional de enfermagem e as dificuldades no tratamento de feridas : Revisão bibliográfica

Wounds or lesions are characterized as changes in skin integrity and may also affect muscles, tendons and bones. Treating an injury is not just about applying a product to the wound bed, but understanding that it is a systematized process that should involve the evaluation of the wound in all its aspects. The nurse is the professional who has the competence and ability to perform the treatment, and for this, it is essential that he has extensive and updated knowledge about the forms of evaluation, types of dressings and coverage. And it is upon graduation that the nursing professional acquires theoretical and practical knowledge, scientifically based. But it is necessary that the professional before and after his training seek more in-depth and updated studies on the subject, as it is an area that always appear innovative and efficient treatments. In this sense, this research aims to gather data and information that contribute to the understanding of nursing care in the process of evaluation and treatment of wounds; and to analyze the professionals' difficulties regarding the subject, through a bibliographic review, using the injured descriptors and nursing evaluation, in the VHL (Virtual Health Library) database from April to July 2019. We identified 63 articles in their entirety with the keywords and after applying the inclusion and exclusion criteria, 14 studies were obtained. The results indicated difficulties of professionals in the evaluation of wounds, as well as knowledge deficit in the area. Another problem encountered was the lack of record of evaluations and procedures performed on patients regarding wounds. The studies also report the importance of using data collection instruments and care protocols, which could be another alternative for higher quality and safe care for patients and professionals. The results reinforce the need for continued training and appreciation and encouragement for professionals seeking to qualify and update themselves.
