Although we have the feeling that our actions are free and that we choose between different options, there is a possibility that our actions will be influenced by external factors, be they theological, causal or others. According to the perspective of determinism, our actions are the result of a causal chain and the past, which would allow only one possible future. In philosophy those who believe that we can reconcile free will and determinism are called compatibilists, and those who believe that if one exists the other will be false are called incompatibilists. Among incompatibilists we have those who believe we have no free will and therefore determinism is true, these are known as hard incompatibilitas, and those who believe we have free will and therefore determinism is false are called libertarians. Robert Kane, a libertarian, argues that we have free will, and that it is compatible with indeterminism, and this view receives modern attacks from compatibilists, in which two problems must be answered, the problem of compatibility, where we must prove that free will free will is incompatible with determinism, and the problem of intelligibility, where we must demonstrate that free will can be reconciled with indeterminism. Libertarian free will requires, in addition to alternative possibilities, that we are the ultimate sources of our actions, as well as the ultimate sources of our wills, with determinations of wills, through self-forming actions, where we form our personality, resulting from conflict situations in our life, in which we must strive to overcome indeterminism, which in these conditions works as obstacles to choosing one of the competing options.
