This work aims to present the life and work of the muslim arab philosopher Al-Farabi, and his time, the “golden age of Islam” as stated by some scholars who focus on the medieval arab world. Al-Farabi, like many others in his time, followed an intellectual path whose main objective was to develop aristotelian and platonic reason in the muslim world, instrumentalizing the muslim religious worldview with theoreticalphilosophical foundations and concepts, which made possible the integration and accommodation of the knowledge worked in the seven liberal arts. The intellectual openness and curiosity of certain rulers in the Abbasid Caliphate allowed Al-Farabi, and other intellectuals who worked in the centers of knowledge production, to weave a range of connections through travel along the routes through which goods were exchanged. There were many routes taken by Al-Farabi in his quest for knowledge, although there are no accurate records of his entire journey.
