The healing is the care given to the area of the body that has suffered the loss of its integrity. These are indispensable attributes for the nurse to have the knowledge and the ability to perform the techniques of his competence. In the area of public health, Resolution COFEN number 0501/2015 highlights the role of nurses, and among other functions, it is the exclusive responsibility of performing a dressing on stage IV, non-classifiable and deep tissue lesion; Coordinate and supervise the nursing team in the prevention and care of wounds and establish prescription of medications / coverages used in the prevention and care of wounds. In this scenario, the present study aimed to analyze the perception of nurses working in primary health care in the municipality of Sinop-MT, the treatment of wounds. Thus, this study was developed through a qualitative, descriptive and exploratory approach, with six nurses working in the basic care network in the municipality of Sinop-MT. The semistructured, recorded and transcribed interview was used as instrument of data collection. Data analysis was guided by the thematic type content analysis technique, resulting in seven categories. The results obtained evidenced that the nurses' performance in the Basic Health Unit (UBS) is very important, being a work space more favorable to develop their activities with autonomy. In spite of this, it was observed that nurses have difficulty in evaluating and treating wounds, and they do not recognize themselves as leaders of a UBS team, placing themselves inferior to other members of the health team, especially the physician, taking the The idea that this professional has broader and more accurate knowledge about all areas of practice. Most nurses argued about limiting academic achievement in terms of learning about wound management. It was possible to note that there is a lack of knowledge regarding the coverage existing in the market today, its indications and contraindications, due to the lack of permanent education, since they know only the coverage they have seen in the health unit. What is observed is that the lack of knowledge of the wound type compromises the assistance, even an orientation to the team and the wound person. It is considered, therefore, that the nurse is the professional that has the greatest number of activities within the health team, in which it needs to develop coordination of the nursing team, scale and dimension of personnel, organization and assistance, An intellectual work, contributing to the permanent education, administration, in the UBS in particular, coordinate and supervise the community health agent. However, it is imperative that nurses realize that it is their responsibility to carry out wound treatment and prevention, as well as to guide and supervise the nursing team.
