Urban afforestation is an issue that has gained extreme importance in recent years, since local climate changes in cities have a great relationship with the absence of trees, which are responsible for controlling wind speed, absorbing rainwater, decreasing heat, responsible for maintaining humidity among other aspects. In view of this importance, the objective of the work was to observe if there are different strategies between the cities of Pedra Preta and Rondonópolis in relation to the issue of urban afforestation to analyze what the population's perception of afforestation is. For this, a questionnaire was applied and applied to the population with the objective of analyzing the knowledge of the cities of Pedra Preta and Rondonópolis on the perception of the population in afforestation. The questionnaire was applied online using the Google Doc resource where it was made available between the periods of March 30 to April 4, 2019. In total, 143 responses were obtained, 75 from Rondonópolis and 68 from Pedra Preta. In the responses, it was analyzed that 140 participants (97.2%) know what the afforestation plan is, and the other 4 (2.8%) do not know. In general, although neither city has effective afforestation plans, the population of Rondonópolis has a better perception of the importance of afforestation. It is recommended that both cities prepare and finalize their plans and actions for environmental education to raise people's awareness of the importance of healthy urban afforestation.
