The high blood pressure is a chronic disease considered a serious public health problem in all strata socioeconomic. She affects about 25% of world population. The aim of this study was to evaluate the high blood pressure related to the nutritional status in patients enrolled in a clinical nutrition clinic at the Municipal Hospital of Santo Antonio de Leverger-MT, from November 2015 to January 2016. The study was cross-analytical type. Attended by 150 individuals of both genders, attended at the clinical nutrition clinic at the municipal hospital of Santo Antonio do Leverger, during the set period. Exclusion criteria, under 18-year-olds were not selected. Data collection was through the information contained in the records of study participants. Individuals had their measured anthropometric measurements, which are weight and height, using for this digital scale and inelastic tape attached wooden Rod. For the nutritional status was used to calculate the Body Mass Index (BMI), according to the WHO for adults and second Lipschitz for seniors over 60 years. They were collected other records information such as age, sex and presence of hypertension previously seen by a specialist. The results show that the overall prevalence of hypertension was 53.3%, with predominance in males and in individuals over 60 years. There was a statistically significant association between hypertension and overweight (p <0,05). These data demonstrate the need for disclosure of information necessary for the reduction of excess weight and hypertension rates in order to decrease the development of cardiovascular disease in the city.
