Background: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an inflammatory disease still incurable and extremely invasive, which leads patients to lose some physical and cognitive abilities, manifesting itself in different ways in each individual, influencing their quality of life by setting up a public health problem, it is necessary to question the nurse's figure on the issue. Objective: To know the mode of action of multiple sclerosis, indentificar health needs in people with the disease, factors that can improve the quality of life of patients and describe the nursing care to this population. Method: An integrative review of literature, exploratory and qualitative approach, regarding the care and nursing assistance provided to people with MS, using the following keywords: Multipla sclerosis, quality of life, basic human needs, nursing care, nursing assistance. Of the 185 articles found, 17 were used for final analysis, according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Results and discussions: The results approach as strategies and nursing care focused on improving the quality of life of patients affected by this disease, carefully to the needs identified in the patient, and the demands presented by caregivers and family. Final considerations: Although they have been identified actions and care that promote improved quality of life of these patients, You still need more studies focusing on this issue, to improve the care provided to patients, and on this complex disease, as well as the intervention of a multidisciplinary team, that acting in an interdisciplinary way, make bigger and better independence, autonomy and functionality, improving the quality and perspective of life of patients with MS.
