The role of municipalities in the applicability of fundamental rights for the homeless population was explored. Given the problem, we intend to answer the following research question: How do public policies implement constitutional social rights in the homeless population of Barra do Garças/MT? From the hypothetical-deductive method, the main objective of the research was defined, which will demonstrate which public policies are carried out in the municipality object of the study and which are developed from the Public Prosecution Service. The secondary objectives: a) to understand the history of the population living in the streets, b) to identify the public policies implemented in the municipality and c) to survey the work done by the Public Prosecutor of the State of Mato Grosso. As a method was used supporting literature, raised the state of the art. The reality was photographed with the hearing of experts and the data were treated with content analysis. There was direct observation and a case study. The aim is to collaborate with scientific production by providing visibility to the homeless population living in the interior of Brazil. As future studies will be materialized parallel research between Brazil and Portugal, to investigate the reasons and reasons that lead women and children to inhabit urban voids. The present work has 4 chapters that indicate the elements of research, literature review, demonstrate reality and explore a case study. At the end, there are the concluding notes, future studies and references.
