Resumo: Currently, the application of foliar fertilizers in the cultivation of soy has spread, but there is little information that supports this practice and proves its efficiency. The objective of this work was to evaluate the effect of foliar application of magnesium sources with different doses on soybean grain yield. The experiment was carried out in the municipality of São Gabriel do Oeste-MS, summer 2016/2017 harvest, in an Oxisol with a clayey texture (600 g kg-1 of clay). The commercial soybean cultivar (Glycine max L.) cv. TEC 7849 IPRO. The experimental design used was randomized blocks, in a 2 x 6 factorial scheme, with four replications. The treatments consisted of two sources of magnesium (Mg), namely magnesium chelate and magnesium nitrate and six doses (0, 50, 100, 200,300 and 400 g ha-1), applied via leaf at stage V5. Basic fertilization was carried out in the planting furrow, with 200 kg ha-1 from 07-40-00. The cover fertilization was 125 kg ha-1 of KCl, carried out when the soybean reached the V5 stage. The number of pods per plant at the R6 stage, weight of a thousand grains (PMG) and grain yield were evaluated. The results obtained were subjected to analysis of variance by the F test, and the treatment means were compared by the Scott Knott test (p <0.05). There was no significant interaction between the factors tested. The weight of a thousand grains ranged from 176.35 to 195.65 g, the number of pods was between 24.58 and 39.41 per plant. In the sources and doses of magnesium, the treatment with magnesium nitrate at the dose of 400 g ha-1 showed superior results for productivity in relation to the other treatments, obtaining 83.58 sc ha-1, indicating that its use can be compensatory. There was a linear increase in productivity for the magnesium chelate source up to a dose of 300 g ha-1, which obtained 81.28 sc ha-1 and at higher doses, productivity decreased. With the data from this work it is shown that for areas similar to the one the experiment was conducted, the application of fertilizers containing magnesium may not be economically viable, requiring more related research to make decisions regarding the use of these sources and doses of foliar fertilizers containing magnesium .
